Research interests
Acid mine drainage (AMD) is a worldwide problem with affects on the environment and human welfare. However, although AMD generation has been the subject of many studies, the AMD process in a whole is still not fully understood. My current research focuses on the natural attenuation of AMD by iron and sulphate reducing bacteria, with particular interest in the role of organic matter. This project is sponsored by The National Council of Science and Technology of México (CONACyT) and will comprise analysis of AMD polluted sites in UK and México.
